Having had their fill of cold winters, Charles and Amy decided to head back to the Left Coast. They are temporarily camping out with Marilyn, Amy's mother, while they arrange things in the area. Charles has found a one year contract with the Japanese American National Library in San Francisco. Apparently, they have a couple hundred boxes of material dealing with the internment during World War II they want catalogued. Charles can reach the museum via a reasonable commute on public transport, a major plus.
Meanwhile, Amy has lined up per diem work with at least two midwife practices in the area.
Amy's indomitable museum piece of a car has been retired in favor of a new one capable of passing California's stringent requirements, leaving Charles to get around in his aging, but still serviceable Honda.
Charles and Amy took full advantage of their sojourn in the DC area, as shown in the photos for the year. In December, they managed to coax the older generation into a diving trip to St. Croix. Charles used his new underwater digital camera to good effect, as shown in the St. Croix photos. Don't miss these or the video of a Sting Ray.
